Andrew Jackson Lodge Number 576 was granted a Dispensation on December 8th,1909. The first recorded meeting was held on Thursday evening, December 16, 1909. A number of brethren, who were members of Fulton Lodge Number 99, decided that Salisbury could host two Masonic Lodges and not be financially harmful to the mother lodge. It takes a lot of dedication, love and work by all concerned, to get a lodge under dispensation and establish a regular meeting place. The officers elected at the first meeting were:
E.B. Neave, Master
O.W. Spencer, Senior Warden
P.H. Bernhardt, Junior Warden
J.S. McCubbins, Treasurer
W.T. Busby, Secretary
W.B. Strachan, Senior Deacon
M.C. Quinn, Junior Deacon
A.C. Mauney, Steward
J.W. Neave, Steward
F.L Palmer, Tyler
The first entry in the minutes book is as follows:
"A dispensation for the purpose constituting a new lodge in Salisbury, NC, having been applied for and granted by the Most Worshipful Grand Master of North Carolina, the first regular communication of Andrew Jackson Lodge, U.D., A.F. and A.M., was held on Thursday evening, December 16, A.D., 1909, A.L. 5909."
The lodge was opened in form on the Third Degree of Masonry, and the dispensation was read to the brethren for information. The petitions for Messers E.B. Arey, R.L. Bernhardt, Hayden Clement, L.A. Raney and A.M. Rice for the degrees in Masonry were read and Committees were appointed."
Andrew Jackson Lodge was chartered on January 12, 1910.
Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge 576 is proud of its 96 years of service to Masonry and to the community.
